Privacy Policy

BladeBuddy ("the App," "we," "us") is operated by No Permission Labs, Long Island City, NY USA. Contact: info@nopermissionlabs.com.

We built BladeBuddy around a simple principle: the App works fully without sharing anything. Any data sharing described below is optional and controlled by you in Settings → Privacy.

Equipment data. Skate and steel/runner models, sharpening hollows and profiles, sharpening log entries (date, location type, cost range), ice time hours, quiz answers, and shop ratings you create. Skater profiles are equipment records — they contain a display label you choose (we encourage nicknames), a skater type, and a weight band. We do not collect skater names (unless you choose to type one as a label), birthdates, ages, or photos of people.

Scan photos. Photos you take of skate blades for analysis. Photos should contain equipment only — you agree not to include people in scan photos. We strip location metadata (EXIF GPS) from photos before they leave your device.

Coarse location. If you grant location permission for the sharpener map, we derive a city-level area (e.g., "Denver, CO, US") for analytics. We never store or transmit your precise coordinates in analytics data.

Anonymous identifier. A randomly generated identifier (an "install ID") created on your device. It is not linked to your name, email, phone number, or any account identity, and is not derived from your device hardware.

We do not collect: names of skaters, precise location, contacts, photos of people, or advertising identifiers. We do not sell personal information.

To run the App: Scan photos are sent to our analysis service to generate your blade report; your logs and profiles power features like forecasts and reminders.

Anonymous usage analytics (optional, your toggle): If enabled, we collect anonymized events (e.g., "a scan was completed," "a sharpening was logged") tagged only with your install ID, city-level area, and equipment details — never names or precise location.

Improving scan accuracy (optional, your toggle): If enabled, blade photos and their analysis results may be retained to improve our analysis technology. If disabled, photos are used only to generate your report and are not retained.

We may share or license aggregated, anonymized statistics derived from usage data — such as equipment popularity, wear rates, and sharpening trends — with third parties. This data is statistical in nature (e.g., "X% of players in the Northeast use a 5/8" hollow") and can never be used to identify you, your device, or any individual skater. We never share or license raw photos, individual usage records, or anything tied to your install ID.

The App lets skaters add sharpening shops to a shared map. What you submit — shop name, address, phone, website, and any tip you write — is public to other users of the App. Do not put personal information about yourself or anyone else in these fields. Submissions are screened automatically for offensive content before they publish, and other skaters can report or hide them.

A submission is stored with the anonymous install ID that sent it, so that blocking works and so that repeat abuse can be stopped. It is not linked to your name or any account.

The App is intended for use by adults. You must be at least 13 years old (16 in the EU/UK) to use the App, and the account holder is expected to be a parent, guardian, or adult skater. Skater profiles managed under an account are equipment records — not user accounts — and are designed to contain no personal information about the skater. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact info@nopermissionlabs.com and we will delete it.

In Settings → Privacy you can, at any time:

• Turn analytics sharing on or off (takes effect immediately)
• Turn photo retention on or off (applies to future scans)
• Delete my data: this clears pending analytics on your device, sends a deletion request for data associated with your install ID to our servers, and generates a new install ID on your device. After rotation, previously collected anonymized data can no longer be connected to you — including by us — which is also why deletion of already-aggregated statistics is not possible: they contain nothing identifying to delete.

You can also delete individual skaters, logs, and scans in the App at any time; local data is removed from your device immediately.

Data is stored on your device and, where you've opted in, on our servers hosted with reputable cloud providers in the United States. We use industry-standard encryption in transit. Event data and retained photos are kept only as long as useful for the purposes above; deletion requests are honored within 30 days.

The App uses service providers to function: cloud hosting, image analysis, map/location services, and (if you subscribe) payment processing via Apple. These providers process data only to provide their service to us. We do not use third-party advertising SDKs.

If we materially change how we collect or use data, we will notify you in the App and ask for your consent again before the new practices apply to you. The policy version you accepted is recorded with your consent.
